Kampala, 18 June 2026 – The Ministry of East African Community Affairs (MEACA), through its Social Affairs Department, today convened a multi-stakeholder dialogue at the National ICT Innovation Hub to initiate the development of Uganda’s National Action Plan (NAP) on Youth, Peace and Security.

On 9th June 2026, Chairperson of the East African Community (EAC) Summit, H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, met with EAC Secretary General Stephen Patrick Mbundi and his delegation at State House, Nakasero, to discuss key issues shaping the future of the Community.

Efforts to create a more connected and competitive East African workforce gained momentum from June 1-5 2026, as the East African Community (EAC) convened a technical meeting in Nairobi to review the Draft Regional TVET Qualifications Framework, a landmark initiative designed to enable qualifications earned in one Partner State to be recognised and valued across the region.

As East Africa advances toward a more integrated regional market, procurement is increasingly becoming a strategic driver of economic growth, trade facilitation, and institutional efficiency. Rebecca Kadaga, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs(MEACA), on April 30 travelled to Sironko District  to mark the annual East African Community Week, bringing a detailed account of the bloc's achievements, with calls for deeper awareness and participation in regional integration processes across East Africa.

The East African Community Secretary General, Hon (Dr.) Peter Mathuki has urged the East African Health Research Commission (EAHRC) to provide the people of East Africa with innovative solutions to the various challenges facing the health sector in the region and in particular a joint regional response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
