Treat Us Fairly- Fish Traders

The First Deputy prime Minister and Minister of East African Community Affairs in Uganda Rt. Hon Dr Alitwala Rebecca Kadaga (MP) has this morning chaired a Meeting between Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries , Uganda Revenue Authority and the Kenyan Fish Traders who are complaining of Uganda impounding their fish trucks in transit to DRC.

The MAAIF was represented by the Minister of Fisheries Hon. Hellen Adoa.

The Kenyan Fish Traders allege that the fisheries officers at Busia boarder post ask from them un receipted money amounting to UGX. 15m. however the Minister of Fisheries asked the traders to justify that and efforts to do that were fruitless. the joint sectoral meeting ended with a resolution that fish inspection to be done thoroughly by joint security and revenue regulatory bodies of Kenya and Uganda as its already stipulated in the treaty.
