On behalf of the Government and People of the Republic of Uganda and on my own behalf, I welcome our dear visitors to the Ministry of East African Community Affairs (MEACA) website. Established in 2007, the Ministry has charted an illustrious journey in steering the EAC integration agenda in Uganda.
We are thus pleased to share with you, through our website, what we have achieved and what we are working on towards the final achievement of one East Africa. Our core responsibilities are captured in the Mandate, Mission and Vision.
While this Ministry is in a way involved in the implementation of EAC commitments in the process of integration, our core role is coordination while other Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies do the implementation of the objectives of the EAC Treaty. I am pleased to state that we have done that and achieved a lot.
It gives me pride to state that all Partner States have signed and ratified the three of the four Protocols that constitute the pillars of the EAC integration; the Customs Union, the Common Market and the Monetary Union. I want to call upon all of you, our stakeholders, to embrace the opportunities provided by these Protocols as we embark on the final journey to Political Federation.
This website will keep detailing the successes of MEACA in particular and the Government of Uganda in general. We have also established a Resource Centre at the Ministry. It is a one stop centre for all information on EAC integration. I encourage the students, business community and the general public to visit and attain more information as we coordinate the process of having one East Africa.
I wish you the best as you navigate through this website for information that we are sure will be of immense value to you in respect of EAC integration. Please do not hesitate to contact us on the address provided for any inquiries.
Rt. Hon. Dr. A.M. Kirunda Kivejinja
2nd Deputy Prime Minister
Minister of East African Community Affairs
